We all have our city. That place in the world where we connect with life around us better than any other place. Where we absorb the atmosphere and become part of it in a way we can't anywhere else.

The city is part of us, and we are part of the city, even if we don't live there. We carry it within throughout life, and as the city grows and develops, so do we.

Total immersion

From time to time, we immerse ourselves in it. Visit it, or change our daily routine if we live in it. We smell the city, taste it, feel it. Explore it. Peel yet another layer of it that we can make our own.

To get to know our city, we walk. All the time. All over the place. Street after street. Alley after alley. Corner after corner. We walk at day, and we walk at night. We walk in the sun, and we walk in the rain. Sometimes snow. Or a sandstorm.

A language

We get to know its people and their language. We talk to them. Try to understand them to the best of our ability. Experience life through them, and slowly we become fluent in the language of the city.

Every city has its own language. Its own way of expressing the words and sentences of the official language.

We might not speak the official language, but we speak the language of the city. We feel it in our bones, because it's our city. We belong to it, and it belongs to us. It's the metropolis dimension.
