The Danish author Hans Christian Andersen was the first in the world to do it, and since then it has been done again and again — with more or less success.
Today, the technique is everywhere, and decades of innovation as gone into it. Especially in the film industry, where it seems even more obvious to use this particular way of telling a story.
In spite of the billions of dollars that has been put into it, no one really does it as well as Hans Christian Andersen. He is still the undisputed master, and all he had was a feather pen and a notebook.
